How was the establishment of the Kamakhya temple
When Shiva was insulted during King Daksha, Daksha's daughter i.e. Mother Sati could not tolerate the insult of her husband Shiva, she sacrificed herself in the same Yagya. When Lord Shiva saw the death of Mother Sati, he was filled with anger. And lifting the dead body of his wife, started dancing Sanghar. All the gods and goddesses were horrified by this conglomerate form of Lord Shiva. Then Lord Vishnu separated the parts of Maa Sati one by one with his Sudarshan Chakra. It is believed that during this time 52 parts of Sati's body fell at different places. These 52 parts are called Shaktipeeth of Mother. In which the obi of the mother fell in Kamakhya and it was named as the Kamakhya temple.
